What Is EaseUS and How Does It Work?

EaseUS is a Chinese company offering a wide range of computer utility and media tools. Although the company’s data recovery tool it first appeared with in 2005 remained one of its most popular products, its catalog has since grown tremendously, currently offering over 30 different software products for Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, etc.

So, this isn’t just an EaseUS Data Recovery review—in fact, we’ll be looking at its partitioning, backup, media, and other utilities as well.

Once you get past the dizzying number of products, from the moment I started using the software, I was impressed with the polished and easy-to-use interfaces suitable for anyone, without the need to be an IT expert.

Main Features

EaseUS is not a single software product, but an entire catalog of PC utilities for all kinds of situations.

The number of tools EaseUS has to offer is pretty astonishing—from data recovery to backups to partition management to media management, it pretty much does it all.

As a result, it’s impossible to cover all the possible features in this EaseUS tool review.

Data & Partition Recovery

This tool allows you to fully or partially recover a deleted or lost hard drive partition. The tool supports FAT, NTFS, Ext2 and Ext3 storage volumes for Windows, but there are also tools for Mac, Android, and iOS. The MacOS version also supports a number of hard drive formats, including HFS, HFS+, FAT, NTFS, or ExFAT formatted drives.

You can use the tool to first scan your filesystem for possible deleted/lost files/partitions, and then select files/partitions to recover and kick off the process with a click.

The raw recovery option also lets you recover file partitions by their signature without data loss. However, while EaseUS claims the scan is very quick, it did take me around 30min to scan a 1 TB hard drive. This slow speed performance is one of the few complaints that pop up in EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard reviews.

Other recovery products include Exchange, Partition, MS SQL, and Email recovery tools. While it’s great to have such a variety of options for recovering different types of data, it’s a bit frustrating that it’s not all included in a single product. The closest thing to this is the Windows or Mac Technician, which features more data recovery options than the entry-level Wizard tools.

Partition Manager

EaseUS also offers a number of different utilities to help manage your storage space. At the most basic level, it lets you create, manage, or undo disk partitions to manage your file storage. At a more advanced level, it allows you to optimize your disk usage by transitioning free space and doing things like converting MBR to GPT files during Windows installation.

According to EaseUS reviews, the partition manager is not far behind as another one of its most valued products.

There’s a separate utility for making a complete copy/clone of a storage disk for backup or environment cloning purposes.

Unfortunately, EaseUS’ partition tools are only available for Windows systems. The personal PC partition tools support Windows 11/10/8/8.1/7/Vista/XP, while the business tool supports Windows Server 2003, 2008 (R2), 2012 (R2), 2011, 2016, 2019, and 2022.

The business version also comes with advanced features that make it particularly useful for server disk management. For example, it can be used via the command-line interface to repair RAID storage volumes, and comes with multiple license options.

Backup & Restore

Next, we’ll cover another highly anticipated feature in an EaseUS tool review.

Like its data recovery and partition management tools, EaseUS provides both individual and business-oriented versions of its backup and restore tools. You can choose to backup and restore data by file, folder, or an entire partition/hard disk.

Furthermore, you can set up automatic or scheduled backups as well as choose between different types of backup modes, such as full, incremental, or differential backups to optimize your storage space.

The software is available for both Windows and Mac systems at the same price. Below, we’ll do a hands-on EaseUS backup software review so you can see how easy it is to use.

Once again, the Enterprise software has multiple licensing options to support different types of business needs. The software has more features to handle database, workstation, and combined workload backups.

What’s more, you can backup your iPhone to your PC using the software. While we wouldn’t say it’s the best iPhone backup tool, it’s a pretty decent one, although you can always learn how to use the iPhone backup feature.

Moreover, if you have noticed that your PC is slowing down during the data recovery or backup process, check these easy steps and learn how to speed up your computer in no time.

Multimedia Utilities

EaseUS also offers an entire suite of products solely aimed at helping you manage your personal media assets or that of your team/organization. Most of the tools offer licenses for individuals or teams of up to 5. This breadth of tools is one of the reasons for the high EaseUS rating by users.

Here are some of the utilities:

  • RecExperts

Record audio, webcam, desktop capture, etc. You can record via incremental screenshots, by splitting screens, or according to scheduled times.

  • Video Editor

A basic video editing tool with the ability to cut and combine video clips, mix in audio, and choose from 50+ ready-made transitions and effects.

  • Video Downloader

This is a straightforward utility that lets you download videos from over 1,000 different websites like YouTube, Vimeo, etc. You can use it to bulk download as well as download audio directly, or automatically convert downloaded videos into an audio format.

  • Video Converter

The EaseUS video converter supports over 1,000 input and output formats. You can also scale the quality or convert between video and audio.

  • Ringtone Editor

This tool allows you to take audio files in MP3 or other formats from your PC and convert them into ringtone format for iOS devices.

  • MakeMyAudio

While this isn’t a studio-level audio editing tool, you can use it to record and edit audio clips as well as convert audio productions to a number of different formats. However, you can’t alter the sound using an equalizer or similar tools.

In most cases, these are pretty straightforward tools that may not have the most advanced capabilities but are beginner-friendly, affordable, and effective.

Other Utilities

Our EaseUS Data Recovery software review was just the beginning, as EaseUS has way more to offer in the form of utilities for specific tasks. Most are aimed at solving a specific problem and are especially useful if it’s something you do often but just don’t have the right tool for.

Some of the utility software you can find here are:

  • Transfer Tools

Tools to transfer files between PCs or to/from mobile devices as well as make a portable copy of your operating system.

  • File Management

A variety of miscellaneous tools, such as a PDF editor, PDF converter, duplicate file cleaner, and a tool to password-lock files.

  • iPhone Utilities

One tool allows you to unlock your iPhone if you have time-locked it or forgotten your password, while the other lets you fake your phone location so you can’t be tracked.

Others include tools for finding product keys to unlock software licenses, wipe sensitive data, an NTFS file system writer for Mac, and a system optimization tool.

Many of these tools are bundled with EaseUS’ other offerings, but most can be bought on their own as well. For example, the PCTrans transfer tool is recommended alongside the Partition Manager for full control over your file systems.

Plans, Pricing, and Contracts

Now, you’re probably wondering “how much does EaseUS cost?”

With a catalog of over 31 different products, many of which have free, pro, and business versions, summing up EaseUS’s pricing is no simple task. You’ll need to start by deciding what type of utilities you need and go from there. Below, we’ll look at the pricing for two of its most popular products:

Plan Price+Subscription Free plan/trial/refund Personal / Business Licenses

  • $69.95/month
  • $99.95/year
  • $149.95/lifetime

As you can probably tell, the exact EaseUS cost is highly dependent on what you want.

The majority of EaseUS products fall in the same pricing range with free, personal, and enterprise software versions. Generally speaking, the software is much cheaper in the long term if you subscribe for a year or more at a time.

Relatively speaking, the prices are quite affordable, although the month-to-month costs can be a bit high for some.

Of course, the big con is that there are so many different products with different software versions and licensing options to consider, which can make finding and choosing the best option quite a headache.

Customer Support

Aside from very helpful and comprehensive documentation, you can also contact the EaseUS support team via live chat (from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM UTC+8, Monday through Friday) and email (24/7). Generally, customers are very happy with the support service, with EaseUS reviews having an average 4.5-star rating on TrustPilot.

Alternatives

This EaseUS software review wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t look at what some of their competitors have to offer. So, here’s how they stack up against the competition:

Win Lose Best for
Acronis Cyber Backup EaseUS has a full system backup option while Acronis doesn’t. Acronis Cyber Backup is more affordable than EaseUS. As a budget-friendly backup option for Windows only.
Veeam Backup & Replication EaseUS’ pricing is more affordable and transparent than Veeam’s. EaseUS offers less advanced features. Windows users who want advanced monitoring and alerts.
Disk Drill EaseUS has a better free plan and cheaper entry-level prices. Disk Drill supports a larger variety of file types and systems. If you need a backup solution that works on nearly all filesystems.

For these alternatives, we focused mostly on our EaseUS backup review and how it compares to other backup tools. However, the huge number and variety of utilities EaseUS has to offer are what really sets it apart from the competition.

Sure, it’s technically separate products with separate pricing, but it’s all tied to your EaseUS account and covered by the same customer support team.

The only catch with EaseUS is that not all tools have the same depth of features as its more highly specialized competitors. However, the data recovery and partitioning tools are up to par with even some of the most advanced products out there.

If you want to explore more data recovery services, you need to check the review of Stellar data recovery as well!

What’s more, their individual tools are typically easy to use without sacrificing too much in terms of features. If you want a range of utilities from a single ecosystem, you really shouldn’t overlook EaseUS.

At the end of our EaseUS software review, we conclude that it’s a trustworthy and hassle-free provider of simple yet effective utilities that cover almost anything you can think of.
