Progressive Insurance is one of the largest insurance companies in the US and has been in the industry since 1937. It has been on Fortune’s list of 100 Best companies to work for, for 3 consecutive years. It offers a wide range of products – from personal life insurance to phone and electronic device insurance.

But does Progressive have pet insurance? Yes! In 2007, Progressive joined forces with Pets Best to create a Progressive Pet Insurance unit. Progressive pet health insurance offers trustworthy medical insurance for dogs and cats at least 7 weeks old.

Progressive Pet Insurance reviews are found all over the place. Our team of expert reviewers will shine a light on the services provided by the company and what pros and cons are involved. Here we go!

Progressive Pet Insurance Coverage and Plans

Offering 3 pet insurance policies, Progressive aims to provide customizable plans that fit your circumstances. As an added bonus, Progressive provides affordable pet insurance with a 5% discount for clients who insure more than 1 pet.

The three Progressive Pet Insurance coverage plans are as follows:

BestBenefit Accident and Illness Plan

According to Progressive Pet Insurance reviews, this is the most popular plan because of its comprehensive coverage. With this plan, your pet is covered for all illnesses and accidents. This includes minor to severe illnesses, ranging from skin infections and allergies to heart disease and diabetes.

Valuable treatments included in this comprehensive plan are

  • Emergency care
  • Visiting a specialist
  • Hospitalization
  • Prescription medicines
  • Surgery (not cosmetic)
  • Behavioral therapy
  • Diagnostic testings such as X-rays, CT scans, MRIs
  • After-hours emergency care
  • Prosthetics and mobility aids

Accident Only Plan

This plan is designed for members with a limited budget. The Accident Only plan can cost as little as $6 per month and covers the following:

  • Broken legs or bones
  • Bite wounds from other animals
  • Claw wounds from other animals
  • Lacerations
  • Accidental swallowing of sharp objects

Please note that the Accident Only plan doesn’t cover any illnesses, only accidental injuries.

Wellness Routine Care Plan

Progressive’s Wellness Routine Care Plan can either be purchased individually or as an add-on to any of the other two pet insurance plans & coverages. It covers extra medical procedures like:

  • Dental cleaning
  • Wellness examinations and check-ups
  • Blood work laboratory testings
  • Vaccinations
  • Preventative treatments for heartworms, ticks, and fleas

All pet insurance plans & coverages by Progressive only apply for pet owners within the United States.

Exclusions & Limitations

Pre-existing conditions, as well as illnesses and injuries related to pre-existing conditions, aren’t covered.

New policyholders should wait the recommended 14 days before taking their pet to the vet. In many cases, claims are denied because the new policyholder didn’t observe the full 2-week waiting period before incurring medical costs at the vet’s.

Annual limits for reimbursements are set to either $5,000 or an unlimited amount. Your monthly premium will depend on this factor.

Progressive Pet Insurance Claims & Repayment

Progressive’s excellent digital platform makes the claim process seamless. Уsing Progressive’s digital platform, you can:

  • pay bills
  • update policies
  • request quotes
  • submit claims
  • view the current status of your policy

The claims process takes no longer than 3 days, with reimbursements being finalized no later than 5 days after the claim. Depending on your reimbursement level (indicated as a percentage), Progressive will indemnify expenses that you are eligible for.

When your pet gets treated for an illness or injury, you’ll have to pay the vet directly. After you’ve made a payment, you can file a claim to Progressive Pet Insurance for reimbursement.

If your plan covers 70%, you’ll be reimbursed 70% of the total amount of costs incurred minus your deductible. The higher your reimbursement level the better.

Pricing & Deductibles

You can purchase insurance for your cat or dog once they are 7 weeks old. Depending on how much coverage you want, your Progressive Pet Insurance cost can be as little as $1 per day. Typically, you’ll have to pay a monthly pet insurance fee with policies being set to an automated renewal annually.

Accident and illness plans are completely customizable and you can choose your annual deductible that ranges between $50-$1,000. Reimbursement percentages range from 70%-90%. And annual limits can either be unlimited or set to $5,000.

Progressive Pet Insurance customer reviews state that requesting a quote is an easy process. You can either phone a consultant on 1-877-298-0639 or request a quote using their online service. There is another option of downloading the Progressive Insurance app onto your smart device to track claims and receive further information.

Prices depend on your:

  • deductible
  • reimbursement level
  • location
  • pet’s breed and age

Luckily, your cat or dog can be enrolled at any age and then keep the same level of coverage as they get older.

On average, a minimum monthly premium for Progressive Pet dog insurance coverage is $35-$40 and $28-$34 for cats.

Policyholders should be aware of their yearly cap ($5,000 or unlimited). Once the cap has run out, you have to wait until the next year before you can claim again.
