What Is Young Living and How Do These Products Work?
When I first heard about Young Living and the wonders its products are claimed to do, I knew I had to give it a try.
So, what is Young Living? While researching for my Young living oils review, I found that the brand is named after its founder, whose name was Gary Young. The company is based in Utah, but it has farms all over the world where the herbs for its essential oils are grown.
Young Living is the world-leading company dealing with essential oils. It is considered by many to produce the best 100% pure essential oils. As seen from various Young Living reviews, clients are pleased with the quality of their products, which comprise over 500 varieties of essential oils. The company’s purpose is to bring essential oils to every home so that anyone can enjoy the health benefits they offer. While Young Living has many special offers for mothers with children, their products can be used by anyone. They even partnered with Nature’s Ultra and produced a CBD oil that is great for pets.
On the other hand, there has been some controversy about Young Living in the past few years. Young Living oils bad reviews make you question their integrity for a moment. The company itself claims that their products are 100% pure, however, there has been evidence, from Indiana University professor Dr. Pappas, pointing to the fact that synthetic compounds were found in the oils.
Young Living, just as any other essential oil company, is not FDA approved because essential oils are not regulated by the FDA. This doesn’t mean, however, that their products don’t work. Let’s take a closer look at some of the products along with customer feedback.
Main Features
Young Living product reviews show that the company’s rising popularity doesn’t leave clients indifferent – some love their products, while others have complaints. So I decided to try some of Young Living’s key products myself.
Feature | Description | Rating |
Seed to Seal | The company’s Seed to Seal policy ensures that it uses the very best ingredients and processes when producing each of its essential oil products – from the seed of the plant up to the moment when the product is sealed. | 5 |
Quality | According to customer reviews and my personal experience with its essential oils, the products are of top-notch quality. | 4 |
Purity | The manufacturer claims to produce 100% pure products. | 5 |
Farms | The company has farms around the world to ensure that the plants used for the production of the essential oils grow in the required climate. | 5 |
Size-to-value | Many trustworthy reviews show that customers consider the oils to be overpriced. | 3 |
Health benefits | According to many Young Living essential oils reviews, the oils help soothe minor skin irritations; based on my own experience I confirm that it’s true. | 4 |
Lavender essential
According to various Young Living oil reviews, this high-standard oil stands out from the crowd. This 15 ml bottle consisting of 100% pure lavender oil is worth every penny. Yes, it may seem a little overpriced but keep in mind how long the oil will last (in some reviews this oil lasted for more than a year). The mixture of floral and herbal notes makes the oil’s aroma irresistible.
This uplifting scent encourages a good night’s sleep, reducing nightmares. Lavender oil is known for significantly reducing anxiety. Note, however, if you’re having serious anxiety problems, it’s a good idea to seek professional help; e.g. there are numerous online therapy sites available.
What I enjoyed the most about this oil is that it can be used for personal care. You can add it to your shampoo, lotion, and skin products. When used in a face cream, it can soothe minor skin irritations. In the Young Living oil reviews, some consumers complained that the lavender essential oil’s aroma can be a bit too strong for some people.
Peppermint oil
Peppermint oil is an all-time favorite with many people. Grown on farms in Washington, this peppermint oil is produced from the leaves and the stems of the plant. This oil undergoes several chemical tests until proved 100% pure. It can ease the tension from sore muscles and help with digestion problems. You can also try diffusing peppermint oil while working or studying to help you concentrate.
Ease of Use
Young Living oil products have three uses: aromatically (with diffusers), topically (applied to the skin), and internally (by ingesting the oil). Every essential oil can be used aromatically and topically, but not all oils can be used internally. You should also be extra careful when using the essential oils around newborns and even older children. You can dilute the essential oils, using the appropriate ratio of carrier oils and essential oils depending on the month/age of the baby or child; the appropriate ratios can be found on their site.
Plans, Pricing, and Contracts
What started simply as a passion for aromatherapy back in the 1980s led to the well-established company with headquarters in Lehi, Utah. While researching for my Young Living review, I’ve found that this global enterprise consists of 18 farms and has over 5 million customers all around the world.
The Young Living products cannot be found in retail outlets, rather they are sold through distributors. Every member of the company gets a commission cut.
If you become a member, you are granted rewards and some great offers according to Young Living distributor reviews. There is no monthly fee for becoming a member, just a one-time purchase of $150-$170. The perk of being a YL member is that you can make the purchase online.
You must contact Member Services to cancel your subscription, and once you do, you forfeit all your reward points.
Ratings and Reviews
The company has a good reputation overall, with plenty of people happy with the products the company sells. Verified Young Living essential oils reviews show a mixed range of ratings.
Young Living is no longer BBB accredited and the customer reviews on BBB point to 1.94/5 stars based on 67 customer reviews. Trustpilot rated them 3.3/5 stars from 48 reviews.
Essential oil Young Living reviews from unsatisfied customers complain about poor customer service and delivery issues.
Alternatives
Young Living reviews show that some other essential oil brands are also popular among customers and can be seen as Young Living’s competitors. Here are some alternatives you can take into consideration.
Young Living vs Plant Therapy
- Both companies have a wide range of essential oils at their disposal.
- What makes Young Living different from Plant Therapy is that YL offers dietary oils that can be ingested.
- Plant Therapy, on the other hand, has a KidSafe line.
Young Living vs DoTERRA
- Young Living has a greater variety of essential oils and blends than DoTERRA.
Young Living vs Eden’s Garden
- Young Living grows the plants from which oils are extracted on their own farms, while Eden’s Garden uses plants from around the world, depending on where the plants grow indigenously and thrive.
- In terms of prices, Young Living has a lot to lose since Eden’s Garden essential oils are cheaper yet have an amazing quality, making them widely accessible.
Is Young Living Worth It?
Young living reviews in 2021 show that Young Living still stands out from the crowd. Because of their Seed to Seal process, the oils are 100% pure and that’s also why they have no expiration date. There are no chemical fillers in Young Living oils, which raises the cost.
FAQ
Several complaints were filed that Young Living is a pyramid scheme. Many MLMs are similar to pyramid schemes and, while not illegal, can be seen as highly unethical.
Young Living products are safe to use but people should always read the instructions on the packaging to prevent side effects.
Young Living is not a scam. It has been created with the purpose of providing 100% natural oils, and various Young Living reviews confirm that its products are one of a kind.
