Insurance Exclusions & Limitations

The question “what does Figo Pet Insurance cover?” is important, but it’s equally important to know what it doesn’t cover. There are a few notable exclusions and limitations on Figo Pet Insurance plans for dogs and cats.

First up, your puppy or kitten will need to be a minimum of 8 weeks old to be covered. There is no upper age limit, however, the company does advise that when your cat reaches 10 years of age and when your dog reaches 8 years of age you must seek senior wellness testing from your veterinarian.

Secondly, the company doesn’t cover pre-existing conditions. They define pre-existing conditions as any condition – either illness, accident or injury – that occurred prior to taking out a policy or that happened in the waiting period. On top of this, they will not cover any symptoms relating to the condition.

In addition to the exclusions detailed above, Figo Pet does not cover:

  • Routine, wellness or preventative care
  • Vaccinations
  • Neutering or spaying
  • Coprophagia
  • Breeding, pregnancy or birth
  • Experimental procedures
  • Cloning procedures
  • Cosmetic surgery

Insurance Claims & Repayment

We’d be remiss not to mention the claims and repayment policies that are a staple for all pet insurance reviews. Presumably, to cover themselves, Figo Pet states that it will process claims within 30 days of receipt – however in reality the average claim repayment timeline is between 7 to 10 days.

You can choose to have your claim reimbursed via check reimbursement or direct deposit. Check reimbursements have a typical payout time of 7 to 10 business days upon completion of claim whereas direct deposit payouts will typically reflect in your bank account within 3 to 5 days upon completion of the claim.

There are no claims limits – you can submit claims freely without being penalized for over-usage. Claim submission time limits are determined by your state, however, the company requests that you file all claims within a “reasonable timeframe”.

The claims process couldn’t be any easier. Simply log into your Pet Cloud via a device of your choosing, click “Claims” and answer the subsequent questions, take a photo of your vet’s bill (paid in full) and upload it to your account.

Figo Pet Insurance Waiting Periods

Figo Pet Insurance has different waiting periods relating to different claim payouts. Starting from the effective date of your policy, its illness waiting period is 14 days, accident waiting period is 3 days while knee injuries and hip dysplasia have a 6-month waiting period.

Deductibles

Figo Pet offers an annual deductible as opposed to a per-incident deductible. This deductible resets every year as your policy is renewed. It’s important to note that only covered claims will be applied to your annual deductible.

Customer Service

Figo dog insurance reviews and those written by cat owners frequently point out that the company offers above-par customer service. Friendly customer service agents are available via phone, email, fax, text and even Facebook Messenger.

The support team is available from 8:00am to 7:00pm Mondays through Fridays and on Saturdays from 8:00am till 6:00pm. On Sundays, support is available via text only from 11:00am to 3:00pm. Claims-related support is available on weekdays from 8:30am to 5:30pm. All times are listed in Central Time.

It is also worth noting that the customer service team is unavailable on certain holidays and works short hours on others.
